Week 9 was our English Christmasing week!
But on Monday & Wednesday, we still had more kids shows
to finish up.
I did remote camera and the cameras downstairs for all the shows
in this week.
Matt also brought us out for burgers sometime on Monday, the
salmon burger with avocado was good!
Tuesday we had some time to go to the outlets before we
started packing tomorrow.
The guys bought way more than me haha.
Thanks Effie for driving us to and fro!
On Wednesday, we had our kids show and I was doing sound in the sanctuary. I was initially quite worried about doing sound but all my fears were nothing when I got the hang of it.(:
With this final show, we have completed all our kids shows and we started packing for English Christmasing at night. I
helped to note down the inventory, what we already had and what we didn’t
according to a list Harry did up.
Shawn was trying to pull the cables from the sanctuary cameras up.
On Thursday & Friday, we were over at the Scottish Rite
setting up. We all helped to setup abit of everything, I mainly helped to setup
the cameras, ran the cables for it and setup the projectors and setup the
intercom system for the Media side.
It was showtime on Saturday & Sunday. On Sat, there were
quite a bit of hiccups on the Media side. Like how our video played halfway for
one of the scenes.
I was the engineer for the Saturday show and to be honest, I
really underestimated the job of an engineer, maybe cause for services and the
school shows, there was more controlled lighting so you didn’t had to bump or close
the iris etc as much. But for a bigger live show like that, with so many
lighting cues going on, I had to constantly be alert and on the lookout and I
should be bumping them up whenever needed instead of when asked by the Director.
On Sunday, we ran into bigger problems. We didn’t have feed
from our jib camera, so at first we thought it might be a bad connection but after
trial and error, we realised that it was the CCU that had broke down. Phil had
to drive back to school to get another CCU.
Glad we fixed everything and regardless, the show still goes on.(:
I was on camera for the Sunday
show. That night we had to tear down everything and bring everything back to
school. .We had a lot of help to wrap cables and carry stuff etc.We were
planning to only setup the enxt day, however as we reached school early, we
still had to wait for the truck with all our other equipments to arrive, so we
setup the sanctuary cameras and ran the cables from those cameras to the 2nd
floor studio. We had a lot of help to wrap cables and carry stuff etc.
What I really learned from this Christmassing weekend,
setting up and doing the shows and all is how much work goes into setting up a
space from scratch. We started off with a blank canvas and we had to run
cables, connect this into that etc. It was tough when we don’t receive feed or
when something goes wrong and we had to trace back whether we connect the cables
correctly etc. Also, fixing the projector was tough work. We only had that much
space to move the C-stand.
